The Alison Brading Studentship in Pharmacology

The Alison Brading Studentship is a new three-year award funded jointly by the Department of Pharmacology and Lady Margaret Hall.

The studentship pays the College and University fees for Home/EU students and a generous stipend of £18,000 per annum (2011/12 rates) which is tax free.

The Department of Pharmacology is one of the top pre-clinical sciences departments in the country and is recognised internationally for the quality of its research.  We have excellent facilities for research and teaching and offer a range of projects in areas such as calcium signalling, neuropharmacology and cardiovascular pharmacology. In memory of Professor Brading, who exemplified how curiosity-driven research may lead to changes in clinical practice, we are keen to receive applications from any area relevant to pharmacology.

The studentship will be awarded to a DPhil student starting at the beginning of the academic year in October 2012. The closing date for applications is 6th January 2012.

Applicants for PhD places in the Department are expected to have a minimum of an upper second-class undergraduate degree (or equivalent for non-UK students) primarily in a biological or chemical science, but applications from high-calibre candidates with mathematical and physical science backgrounds would be welcomed.   Applicants should submit an online application by the deadline; paper applications will not be considered.
