Zoë Nicholas

Chemistry in Cells DPhil programme

Biography

Zoe is a DPhil student on the Wellcome Trust Chemistry in Cells programme. She read Chemistry at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2023, where she completed her MChem project under the supervision of Professor Angela Russell. There, she synthesised chemical probes for mapping protein-lipid interactions. Her DPhil project in the Lanyon-Hogg group (co-supervised by Christoph Tang in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology and Jani Bolla in the Department of Pharmacology) uses synthetic chemistry and chemical biology techniques to explore novel methods of targeting multidrug efflux pumps in Gram negative bacteria.
