Biography

I completed a BSc in Neuroscience at the University of Leeds, graduating in 2018. During my undergraduate I worked on a number of projects, including an industrial placement year at the medical research charity LifeArc, where I was part of their Assay Development team. I also completed a project in Dr Jamie Johnston's group looking at multisensory integration in the olfactory bulb.

In September 2018 I moved to Oxford for the Wellcome Trust 1+3 programme in Neuroscience. During my MSc year I completed rotations in Prof Colin Akerman's and Dr Kerry Walker's groups. 

The focus of my DPhil centres around how diversity amongst embryonic neural progenitor pools creates diversity between adult cortical neurons. I am currently using a combination of lineage labelling techniques and in vitro electrophysiology to investigate how the functional identity of excitatory cortical neurons varies depending on the progenitor pool from which they are derived.
